Bhagavat Gita Chapter 3, Sloka 31 to 43

 

 

 

Chapter 3 : Verse : 41

 

तस्मात्त्वमिन्द्रियाण्यादौ नियम्य भरतर्षभ |
पाप्मानं प्रजहि ह्येनं ज्ञानविज्ञाननाशनम् ||
தஸ்மாத்த்வமிந்த்ரியாண்யாதௌ நியம்ய பரதர்ஷப |
பாப்மானம் ப்ரஜஹி ஹ்யேனம் ஞானவிஞானநாசனம் ||

ஆகையால் பரதவம்சத்துக் காளையே, நீ முதலில் இந்திரியங்களை அடக்கி ஞான விஞானத்தை அழிக்கின்ற பாபவடிவமுள்ள இந்த ஆசையை அறவே ஒழித்துவிடு.
Therefore, Arjuna, you must first control your senses, and then kill this evil thing which obstructs Jnana [knowledge of the Absolute or Nirguna Brahma] and Vijnana [knowledge of Sakara Brahma or manifest Divinity].

 

 

Chapter 3 : Verse : 42

इन्द्रियाणि पराण्याहुरिन्द्रियेभ्य: परं मन: |
मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्यो बुद्धे: परतस्तु स: ||
இந்த்ரியாணி பராண்யாஹுரிந்த்ரியேப்ய: பரம் மன: |
மனஸஸ்து பரா புத்திர்யோ புத்தே: பரதஸ்து ஸ: |

இந்திரியங்கள் [உடலினும்] மேலானது என்று சொல்கிறார்கள். இந்திரியங்களைவிட மனது மேலானது. மனதைவிட புத்தியானது உயர்ந்தது. புத்தியைவிட மேலானவன் ஆத்மா.
The senses are said to be greater than the body; but mind is greater than the senses; intellect is greater than the mind; and what is greater than the intellect is He [the Self].

 

Chapter 3 : Verse : 43

एवं बुद्धे: परं बुद्ध्वा संस्तभ्यात्मानमात्मना |
जहि शत्रुं महाबाहो कामरूपं दुरासदम् ||
ஏவம் புத்த்தே: பரம் புத்த்வா ஸம்ஸ்தப்யாத்மானமாத்மனா|
ஜஹி சத்ரும் மஹாபாஹோ காமரூபம் துராஸதம் ||

பெரிய கைகளையுடையவனே, இங்ஙனம் புத்தியைவிட மேலான ஆத்மாவை அறிந்து, ஆத்மாவினால் ஆத்மாவை அடக்கி, காமரூபமான வெல்லுதற்கறிய சத்துருவை அழித்துவிடுவாயாக.
Thus, Arjuna, knowing that which is greater than the intellect and subduing the mind by reason, kill this enemy in the form of desire that is hard to overcome.

इति श्रीमद्भगवद्गीतासूपनिषत्सु ब्रह्मविद्यायां योगशास्त्रे श्रीकृष्णार्जुनसंवादे कर्मयोगो नाम तृतीयोऽध्याय: ||
